Q) I open the door on my oven and the light comes on and the heat goes off, is this normal?


A) yes this is normal, the microswitch in the door hinge recognises when the door has been opened and cuts the power to the elements and turns the inner bulb on, this is a safety feature on most of the Smeg range of ovens and cookers.
